Grand Orient of Egypt

الشرق المصري الأعظم

The Grand Orient of Egypt, also known as GOE, is a legally registered Egyptian Masonic entity operating within the Arab Republic of Egypt, dedicated to freedom of conscience, equal dignity between women and men, humanitarian work, knowledge development and the Masonic craft of building.

We came to build, not merely to speak — therefore our sleeves are always rolled up.

Who We Are

A lawful Egyptian Masonic institution

The Grand Orient of Egypt is a legally registered entity operating within the Arab Republic of Egypt, in accordance with the relevant laws and regulatory frameworks. Its public work is civil, peaceful, transparent and oriented toward a tangible positive impact.

The institution addresses women and men as equal bearers of human dignity, conscience and responsibility. It places freedom of conscience, equality of rights, fraternity, cooperation and ethical improvement at the center of its public mission.

Its foundational activities begin through three initial lodges currently in formation under a unified organizational framework, representing the first nucleus of a progressive institutional structure.

Freemasonry

A symbolic method of moral and intellectual construction

Freemasonry is an initiatic and symbolic tradition that uses the language of building, the discipline of the lodge and the tools of the builder to cultivate moral improvement, freedom of conscience, fraternity, responsibility and service to humanity.

For the Grand Orient of Egypt, Masonic work is not secrecy for its own sake. It is a disciplined method of construction: construction of the self, construction of knowledge and construction of responsible service to society.

The public mission can be stated clearly: humanitarian work, knowledge development and community advancement. Internal Masonic work preserves the privacy required for proper performance.

The GOE

Liberty · Equality · Fraternity under the horizon of Kemet and Ma’at

The Grand Orient of Egypt gives central place to the Masonic motto Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. It links this motto symbolically only with Kemet and Ma’at: Liberty seeks truth; Equality seeks balance and justice; Fraternity seeks right relation among human beings.

Kemet is approached as civilizational memory and symbolic horizon, not as fantasy or unsupported historical claim. Ma’at gives ethical language to truth, balance, justice, order and right relation between word, action, individual and institution.

Today, the Grand Orient of Egypt, also referred to as GOE, presents itself as the only active Masonic institution in Egypt, carrying forward a lawful contemporary refoundation of Egyptian Masonic work.

Becoming a Freemason

A path of responsibility, conscience and service

The Grand Orient of Egypt admits free women and men of good morals who sincerely seek moral work, freedom of conscience, study, fraternity and useful service.

The GOE welcomes persons of any religion, spiritual tradition or metaphysical belief, provided that they respect human dignity, equality, lawful civil work, discipline, discretion and the ethical purpose of the Craft.
